Student Goals:
Students will use the Adobe InDesign software to create pieces related to the art and design field.

Purpose:
Adobe Photoshop is one three software pieces every student must know.

Student Objectives:

Provided with multiple lectures, examples, study guides, guided practices, and student resources, the students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of computer publication layout design software (Adobe InDesign) by producing a completed digital print design project that shows the use of 8 or more tools. (i.e.; type tool, path tool, image import, etc.)


Tasks:

601 - Research the history of advertising design.

602 - Apply elements and principles of design.

603 - Interpret a creative or design brief.

604 - Produce thumbnails, roughs and comprehensive.

What is the objective?
We are looking for a magazine that will be able to cross over themes for young adults and encompass all that is growing up in today's world of music, fashion, trends and lifestyles.

What do we want to say?
Connect with lifestyles of today's young adults

Target Market?
16 to 21 males and females

Francis Bacon (28 October 1909 – 28 April 1992) was an Irish-born British figurative painter known for his bold, grotesque, emotionally charged and raw imagery.[1] His painterly abstracted figures are typically isolated in glass or steel geometrical cages, set against flat, nondescript backgrounds.

Students must be prepared to make a major commitment. It is our assumption that students entering the program are here to lay a foundation for a career in a design field and will be required to meet rigorous and stringent standards. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are required as is the ability to read and analyze. Serious students will find that the program will provide them with an excellent opportunity to develop the skills necessary to succeed in the job market or advance in education.

Experimental Project:
Project Name: Oil Paint With Palette Knife

Project Overview: 

Palette knife painting is a term used to describe the impasto technique of applying paint to canvas using a painting knife. 19th-century master painter Vincent van Gogh is one artist who was known to use the method. By applying thick daubs of oil paint on canvas, he was able to achieve the swirling, textural work he became famous for. Other past artists who used both painting knives and brushes include Paul Cezanne, Marc Chagall, and Henri Matisse. Today, many contemporary artists continue to use painting knives in the same way to create expressive works that appear to come out from the canvas.

Specifications: 

Using the supplied materials create a monochromatic portrait of a friend or family member.
