Close up Drawing

Student Objectives:

Provided with multiple lectures, examples, study guides, guided practices, and student resources, the students will be able to an open-end assignment and complete a portfolio piece, by deciding what technique and medium to use with little or no assistance, as documented in their portfolio.

Concept:

All projects need to show a complete grayscale, even if the project uses color there will still be a tonal value from 100% black to 100% white.

This should be a completed rendering that would be shown as a finished clean piece of work, simply put, a portfolio piece! The difference about these portfolio pieces, is you can use any medium you choose i.e.; traditional, digital or Photography and video.

Instructions:

Close-Ups’ is a theme many Art Teachers present to their students. It encourages students to look at the world in a different way – from different perspectives and angles. Arranging, zooming in, cropping and observing detail are all part of the creative process.

• This is a study (See Drawing/Study example)
• Drawing needs to be done in a full grayscale range
- 100% black thru 100% white
- Develop darks, grays and highlights
• Make sure your shadows tell where the light source is.

This should be a completed rendering that would be shown as a finished clean piece of work, simply put, a portfolio piece! The difference about these portfolio pieces, is you can use any medium you choose i.e.; traditional, digital or Photography and video.
