Animal Illustration

Student Objectives:

Provided with multiple lectures, examples, study guides, guided practices, and student resources, the students will be able to an open-end assignment and complete a portfolio piece, by deciding what technique and medium to use with little or no assistance, as documented in their portfolio.

Concept:

All projects need to show a complete grayscale, even if the project uses color there will still be a tonal value from 100% black to 100% white.

This should be a completed rendering that would be shown as a finished clean piece of work, simply put, a portfolio piece! The difference about these portfolio pieces, is you can use any medium you choose i.e.; traditional, digital or Photography and video.

Instructions:

Animal Illustration:
Animal art projects seem to be super popular with kids- for good reason. Kids love animals (because they are crazy little animals), and I think they are naturally drawn to making art that features animals. Plus, animal art projects are a fabulous way to really dig into studying different animals and what makes them special.

Drawing needs to be done in a style that is not a direct copy of the photographs,, exaggerate the personality.
- Try to add some personality to the drawing
- Try to develop a feeling of a story behind the picture
- Try to develop an activity for the animal to be doing for the illustration
