Student Goals:

Students will prepare their Artist portfolio for evaluation

 

Student Objectives:

By June, the Visual Communications students, along with lectures, guided practices, multiple projects and various technique examples, the students will be able to develop a portfolio of their work that demonstrates their ability and for entrance into their secondary education choice upon completion of the program.

914 - Research current industry practices.

Must-Have Pieces In Your portfolio:

The quality of your art portfolio has the single biggest impact on your application to art school. It's critical that your portfolio shows off work that best represents your technical skills and perspective.

Foundation Year (First-Year Students):

The Foundation year is intensive, exciting, and challenging, and through it each student begins to find and define a distinctive visual voice. At the end of the year, students are well prepared to enter the all-elective sophomore year.

Digital & Graphic Design:

Formulate design concepts and presentation approaches for visual productions and media, such as print, broadcasting, video, and film. Direct workers engaged in artwork or layout design.

Section 10: Event Design For Dickies Casual Wear

Dickies - Casual Line

Project:
After all of the years on the market for workwear now they are looking into push the casual market and street wear.

Background / Overview:
There is an event/trade show and we need to come up with a look for the trade show - budget is unlimited - need to promote casualwear.

What is the objective?
Promote  the casual line in a retail marketplace

What do we want to say?
Work or Play... Dickies

Target Market?
16 to 35 Males/Females

Project:
Create an illustration of a famous person of your choice.

Background / Overview:
This illustration can be done however you choose to do the artwork, but remember that you need to pick someone that everyone can recognize, pick an easily identifiable character.

What is the objective, the purpose of the Illustration?
Design the cover art for people magazine

Target Market?
18 to 45 years of age.

Make sure that your subject matter is appropriate for a school portfolio.

Photography & Video:

Photograph people, landscapes, merchandise, or other subjects. May use lighting equipment to enhance a subject's appearance. May use editing software to produce finished images and prints. Includes commercial and industrial photographers, scientific photographers, and photojournalists.

Web-Design & App Development:

Design digital user interfaces or websites. Develop and test layouts, interfaces, functionality, and navigation menus to ensure compatibility and usability across browsers or devices.

Create original artwork using any of a wide variety of media and techniques.

A gang is a group of good friends or family with identifiable leadership and internal organization, identifying with or claiming control over territory in a community, and engaging either individually or collectively in illegal or violent behavior. Gang-related activity and violence has increased along the U.S. Southwest border region, as US-based gangs act as enforcers for Mexican drug cartels.

A gang war is a type of small war that occurs when two gangs end up in a feud over territory.

Section 10: Race Crimes
Animation & Game Design:

Design core features of video games. Specify innovative game and role-play mechanics, story lines, and character biographies. Create and maintain design documentation. Guide and collaborate with production staff to produce games as designed.

Fashion Design:
Design clothing and accessories. Create original designs or adapt fashion trends.
